New Zealand Pipit (Anthus novaezeelandiae, Motacillidae: Wagtails and Pipits) Fiordland, New Zealand
The New Zealand Pipit can be found in rough country and, particularly in my experience, in and around the gravel and shingle along upland braided rivers. Formerly lumped with the Australian Pipit (see vimeo.com/115237050) in the Eurasian Richard's Pipit. The NZ and Australian birds would appear to me to be different birds. Can be found with the somewhat similar introduced Eurasian Skylark - see.
