Eurasian Skylark (Alauda arvensis, Alaudidae: Larks) Auckland region, New Zealand)

The introduced Skylark is very common in New Zealand in open country, including farmland. It was also introduced to southeastern Australia, where it is less common.

Usually seen on the wing singing high into the sky, here we find one having a dust bath on a hot day in some roadside blue-metal.
