New Zealand Dotterel / Tuturiwhatu (Charadrius obscurus aquilonius, Charadriidae: Plovers, Dotterels etc.) Auckland, New Zealand

The New Zealand Dotterel is a wader endemic to New Zealand. Found around the shores of the northern North Island with a separate subspecies found on Steward Island down south. It is not common and faces threats from disturbance and introduced predators. However here seen on the shoreline of Manakau harbour within the city of Auckland.
